Tweetspiration

I mentioned on Twitter that taking a long hiatus as a WoW blogger leaves you with nothing to write about when you return. With that, Aoirselvar and Kadomi provided me with a couple of post ideas. Since I've got wicked writer's block, I will run with both.

From Aoirselvar: I guess you can start writing about your experience returning to the world of Azeroth.

Mostly, it feels like I never left. Now, I've logged in over the course of the hiatus, but it was usually on a Saturday morning when only a couple of guildies were online anyway. I'd do a couple of dailies, maybe work the auction house a little, and then log off.

I didn't feel awkward or rusty until we went to ICC on Saturday night. That's when the time off showed itself for me. I didn't feel like I was really in the pocket the first couple of pulls. I really wasn't at my best throughout the run, for that matter. I'm not saying I did poorly, but I certainly noticed that I was out of practice.

My guild is great. They've been so understanding and welcomed me back with open arms. The only remotely weird thing from a social standpoint is that everybody has better gear than I do. I laugh when I see a guildie on their 4th or 5th 80 and that alt has a gear score that dwarfs mine.

I've got some work to do.

From Kadomi: You raided ICC, how about your first impressions?

I really enjoyed getting to work a bit in ICC. I think Blizzard did a great job with the place, overall. Based on what I've seen, you can't exactly waltz your way through there. You have to actually think about the trash, and the bosses aren't pushovers. Also, the dodge debuff really makes things interesting.

My last real raiding experience was in Ulduar. I was involved in a couple of trips to ToC 10, but neither amounted to much of anything. Even in TBC, we never really got past the first tier or so of raiding. The chance to go in with a really, really good group and take on some of the higher-level content this time around was exciting.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I wasn't really geared for the place when I walked in, and on top of that I was horribly rusty. I'm looking forward to getting some upgrades and getting myself back in shape.

Thanks for the ideas, Aoirselvar and Kadomi! I'll get back into the swing of this blogging thing sooner or later.

A New Denizen

My Twitter buddy Mortigan bellied up to the Blogeroth bar and joined the club.

You may remember Mort from this infamous post.

And let's not forget about his most recent creation.

If those are any indication, his blog's gonna be a blast.

Defection

Yesterday on Twitter, I asked the community if they had a gun to their head and had to change factions, what race on the other side would they pick.

Kudos to Outlandish Guild for having my favorite answer: Pull the trigger #forthehorde

I didn't answer my own question on Twitter, so I figured I'd answer it here. If Misneach had to shed his Human form and join the Horde, he'd be an Orc. I don't really know why, but I feel, after knowing him for 80 levels, the Orc race would fit him best Horde-side.

However, if I had to make a new Warrior from the ground up, I'd probably go Tauren. In fact, I have a Tauren Warrior (very, very low level) on Undermine named Mishnock (the phonetic spelling of Misneach). Again, I can't really tell you what the reasons are...just seems to fit.

So, for those of you who didn't answer on Twitter, gun to your head...what would you pick?

Like I Have Time For This

Because I'm not busy at all with a full-time job, a part-time job, a house full of kids, a new puppy, guild-mastering, and raid-leadering, I figured I'd fill up some of my free time by creating a Twitter account for Echo of Fate.

Feel free to follow us if you happen to care at all what we're doing with ourselves. Or you can just laugh at me while I try to manage two active Twitter accounts.

Side Note: I've noticed that several people on Twitter and in their blogs have expressed guild dissatisfaction. I'd like to recommend the awesome people at Guild Launch if you want to start up your own guild like I did and don't want a headache when you set up your guild site.

They're much better than other services I've tried, and they've put a lot of game-specific widgets and such in there. Lots of cool stuff to play with and ways to keep your guild organized.

Tell them Misneach sent ya. They won't know what you're talking about, but tell them anyway.

Not Exactly What I Had In Mind

In the midst of the Blizzcon Tweetfest, I, being an individual stuck in the office while everyone else was getting Cataclysm news first hand and Tweeting about it, added snarky comments into the mix to make myself feel relevant.

One such comment read as follows: I expect pics of hot gamer girls at #Blizzcon wearing "I wish Misneach was here" shirts. That is all.

A short time elapsed until Mortigan, an Undead Warlock Tweep of mine, posted this: http://twitpic.com/eqpvv - @AggroJunkie Hey, they DO have Misneach T-Shirts!

If you have no access to the Twitpic link, please to enjoy:

Well done, my friend. Well done. Photoshopping on the fly FTW!

Cheesi also noted that you are now her hero, so gratz on that as well.

Twitter Junkie

Yup, I did it.

Set up a WoW Twitter account. If you're a tweet as well then follow me!

I'm going to try and do my darndest to update this one more often than my personal one, but we'll see how that goes.

Looking forward to your tweets and follows!

Follow Friday

Those of you who've been sucked into the social phenomenon known as Twitter may be familiar with #followfriday. It's essentially a tag you use to designate a tweet where you list a group of people who you think your followers should follow as well.

So, in the spirit of #followfriday I'd like to apply it to the blogosphere, and at the same time send a shout-out to the four WoW bloggers that inspired me to start putting my random, pointless, often incoherent thoughts on the interwebz.

  • Ratshag - The Orc, the Myth, the Legend. Believe it or not, his was the first WoW blog I ever found. I started reading it in late 2007 and have been laughing ever since. The guy's an absolute creative genius. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll find a new appreciation for Troll wimmens.
  • Khol Drake - Khol's been putting together a brilliant story in the time that he's been blogging. I've been locked into it and am always anticipating the next volume. If you aren't familiar with his work, go there and start from the beginning. Each chapter keeps getting better.
  • Jessika - Started reading her blog when Vene linked her. I felt a certain kinship to her, really. We dinged 70 about the same time, started raiding Kara about the same time, and my guild had some of the same struggles and triumphs as hers. Plus, female tanks are hot.
  • Keredria - Jessika's healer. I've been following her for a lot of the same reasons that I listed for Jess. In addition, getting insights into the mind of a healer is certainly a benefit to any tank. I've never been a tree-hugger, but K could change my mind.
Thank you all for the inspiration. I'd also like to thank all of the other bloggers on my blogroll who I religiously read. I love being a part of this community.

Now, back to Twitter. I have a personal Twitter account that I'm horrible about keeping up with. However, after reading through a number of blogs and listening to the Twisted Nether Blogcast, I think it's time Mis gets his own. How I'm going to manage to keep up with two Twitter accounts is beyond me, but I think this one could be a lot more fun than my boring personal account.

When I finally get it set up, you'll read about it here.
